Call for Proposals

Presenters are encouraged to demonstrate or discuss all facets of their research and practice in a variety of different modes (see formats below). 

Session Formats

Workshop

Workshops will be scheduled for 50 minutes and are expected to have interactive components. This is a great opportunity for educators to share hands-on experience with their scholarship or practice.

Presentation

Individuals or groups are invited to disseminate a 20-minute presentation, followed by 5 minutes of questions. This venue is appropriate for larger demonstrations of scholarship and more lengthy stories of practice.

Poster

The poster session is the perfect opportunity to display and communicate your work to a broad audience, using images/charts/diagrams to lead discussion. This session will run concurrently with a late afternoon social.

Roundtable

A roundtable session is for a small group discussion centered on one or more individual papers. Each presenter receives 15 minutes to share their work with a broader group discussion to follow. A roundtable is an excellent way to present and receive feedback on your research or practices, particularly those projects that are still incomplete or in-progress.

Proposal Submission

  1. All authors should submit an anonymized proposal of no more than 300 words for review and an abstract of no more than 100 words in either the Scholarly Teaching/Practical or Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Stream.
  2. For authors who are submitting their proposal as a workshop or presentation, they will also need to submit an explanation of how the work will be presented to engage the audience (no more than 100 words).
  3. One author cannot serve as a first author for multiple proposals.
  4. Proposals should represent original work and have not been previously presented.
  5. Authors will be asked to declare the extent to which tools such as generative artificial intelligence/large language models were used in creating their proposals. We expect all authors to disclose honestly and transparently any use of such tools in the course of research submitted to the conference.
  6. All submitters will be asked to participate in the peer review process.

Proposal Review

All proposals will be reviewed by 2 or 3 reviewers, and the organizing committee may request you to present in an alternative format than you selected. Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

Scholarly Teaching/Practical Stream

  • Contribution to teaching and learning
  • Relevance to the conference theme
  • Evidence of scholarly literature
  • Rational for design/format
  • Organization and clarity
  • Evidence of engaging participants (workshop & presentation only)

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Stream

  • Significance of the topic/contribution to teaching and learning
  • Relevance to the conference theme
  • Appropriateness of conceptual framework/ literature review
  • Rationale for research design/ method
  • Organization and clarity
  • Evidence of engaging participants (workshop & presentation only)
