Past Conference Descriptions
Past Thompson-Okanagan Teaching and Learning Conference descriptions are listed below.
About the Conference
In 2024, UBC Okanagan Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and TRU Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) collaborated on the inaugural Thompson-Okanagan Teaching and Learning conference (TOTLC) to advance teaching and learning practices in our region. This year CELT is proud to host the conference at TRU, on the traditional lands of Tk’emlups te Secwepemc. The conference will be entirely in person.
Theme
The 2025 theme is Scholarly Teaching and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning: Evidencing our Practice. We invite educators and researchers to consider Potter and Kustra’s (2011) definitions of scholarly teaching (ST) and the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and reflect and share how you evidence them in your practices.
We also invite educators and researchers to consider Hamilton’s (2023; 2024) contributions towards engaging and supporting educators and researchers at different career stages, including graduate students, faculty, and leadership. How is ST or SoTL key to your professional practice and responsibilities?
UBC Okanagan in collaboration with Thompson Rivers University is hosting their inaugural Thompson-Okanagan Teaching and Learning Conference.
